Privacy Policy

Who we are

The Memory App is an indie app that helps you capture and recall personal memories. It is operated as a sole-trader product. You can reach us at support@algorismlabs.com.

What we collect

When you create an account we receive a display name and email address from your sign-in provider (Google or Apple). If you use Apple's private relay, we only ever see the relay address.

We store the memories you create: title, description, tags, date, and optional location coordinates you explicitly attach. Titles and descriptions are encrypted at rest using industry-standard symmetric encryption, protecting them from database breaches and unauthorised access. We do not access or read your memory content. We do not read your camera roll, contacts, or any other device data beyond what you deliberately enter.

We collect basic crash and error reports to keep the app stable. These do not include memory content.

How we use your data

Your memories are used solely to provide the service back to you: storing, searching, and recalling them on your behalf.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your memories to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. We do not share your content with third parties except the infrastructure providers listed below.

On-device vs. cloud processing

Auto-tagging runs entirely on your device. Your memory content never leaves your phone for that feature.

Recall and semantic search require cloud AI because the models are too large to run locally. When you use these features your query and relevant memory excerpts are sent to our AI provider to generate a response. This is labelled clearly inside the app.

Third-party services

Firebase (Google): We use Firebase Authentication and Firestore to store your account and memories securely. Google's privacy policy applies to data held in these services.

Apple Sign In: If you sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates you and may share a private relay email address. Apple's privacy policy governs that interaction.

Cloud AI: Recall and search queries are processed by a third-party AI provider under a data-processing agreement that prohibits training on your data.

Data retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings inside the app. Deletion removes your profile and all memories from our servers within 30 days. Backups are purged on a rolling 30-day cycle.

Your rights

You can delete all your data at any time through the app. If you have questions or requests that the app does not cover, email us and we will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the EU or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR/UK GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, portability, and the right to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Children

The Memory App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update the date below and, where required, notify you by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
